The Society of Friends of Modern Glass (VVMG) is a volunteer association dedicated to celebrating, promoting and advancing glass art. The VVMG was founded in 1986 with the purpose of:
– awakening interest in modern and contemporary glass art
– encouraging and supporting contemporary developments in glass art.
With approximately 900 members, the VVMG has been the largest association of lovers of modern glass in the Netherlands and Belgium for 35 years. Our members are collectors, artists, as well as gallery owners and museums.

Invitation - Glass Day and AGM, Sunday, March 10
On Sunday, March 10, we will hold our spring membership day and visit the exhibition “Glass: Still Water” held at Castle Cannenburch in Vaassen.
One of the participants and the president of the Glass Art Foundation will give an explanation of this exhibition.

Glass – Magazine for Glass Art is the quarterly magazine of the Society of Friends of Modern Glass. As a member of the society, you will receive the 70-plus page magazine four times a year. In it you will read all about the latest developments in national and international glass art.

A selection committee, consisting of Maartje Brattinga (curator of glass at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam), Christine Vanoppen (visual artist) and Selena Yang (Oooit Art, Utrecht), unanimously chose Evert Nijland’s design as the 2023 member object for the Friends of Modern Glass.
